The film, like a picture drawn in crayons in a primary school art class reveals anxiety about exclusion from a national community, which we can also see at the psychological landscape of Dumbo, the animated feature made by Disney during World War II. However, the ‘smelly’ man is different from Dumbo where he eventually becomes a hero after his death. Here, we can see this is an example of nationalism in our society, where the boundary between the subject and or object of discrimination does not exist any longer. (Kim Joon-yang)
