SYNOPSIS

Romantic icon and self-orientalism represented as a child monk often and strikingly begin to appear in Korean animated films in the 21st century. These icons reveal a part of identities given in the modernized Korean society. What a child monk desires in Sleeping in Spring is not a father but a mother as like the animated feature, Oseam. That is why a father (or his substitute) already exists beside him. (Kim Joon-yang)
