Since the military coup in Turkey in 1980, approximately two thousand people have disappeared. Hassan Ocak was among those who disappeared in 1995. The government kept information about these events silent, as did the people who were acquainted with the missing. They resented being unable to talk about it because the missing people were considered to be terrorists, perpetrators or communists. However, one particular mother was unable to keep silent. Hassan’s mother pushed to the streets, and many other mothers joined her in her steps and they gathered in strength. By following the activities of the “Saturday Mothers”, the film not only becomes a report disclosing the tyrannical power of a nation which tears at the heart of the beloved, but also sings about the courage of the women who fought back.
