SYNOPSIS
Who were the trail-blazing women in the Turkish film industry? Bilge Olga?and Turkan Soray are highly renowned directors now, but who are the women on whose shoulders they stand? Have these unknown women and their achievements been forgotten in the male-centric writing of cinematic history? The director Nuran Bayer sets off on a journey to discover the ¡°Invisible Women Pioneers of Yesilcam¡± (the Turkish Hollywood). Five forgotten women are featured, including the actress/director/producer Cahide Sonku, who was a key player in Yesilcam during the 1950s and Ayten Urkmez Kuyululu, who continued to make independent films addressing issues central to Turkish women and Turkish society even after immigrating to Australia.
