SYNOPSIS
As a result of the 2001 ban on prostitution in Taipei, most of the registered prostitutes found themselves with no means to support their families. A number of those sex workers choose to start a new life producing and selling vinegar and herbs. Our Life Saving Vinegar documents the difficulties of learning a new trade and leading a new life. The film also questions the government’s policy and asks why prostitution is not an acceptable occupation. (Moon Eun-mi)

Zita Jeng received a B.A. degree in History from the Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan and has been COSWAS sale manager for its product line of Chinese herbal vinegar since 2002. Deeply moved by the tough and yet determined attitudes towards the lives of these former sex workers, she made this very short film in the hopes that people could understand them better.
