SYNOPSIS

Taking care of her severely ill mother, Marissa manages to eke out a living by selling a rice cake. Desperate to save her mother, she pins her hopes on the town herbalist who advises her to perform the following ritual: kill a black chicken and offer it to the spirit of nature on the night of the full moon. But while she performs this rite, she runs the risk of being raped by a man from the neighborhood. This film is loosely based on a Filipino short story. (Kim Hea-seung)

    Born in 1980, she studied Film and Audiovisual Communications at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She has directed two shorts, Regalo (2002) and Luna and currently works part-time as a scriptwriter and one of the production staff at a radio program.
