SYNOPSIS
Hope to Return is a documentary about Afghan girls who immigrated to Iran, their neighboring country, in wartime. While they build a community service organization and educate children, they never give up on finding a way to return to their home country, always reciting the mantra ¡°our motherland is Afghanistan and our stay in Iran is only temporary¡±. Finally, one of the girls gets to return to Afghanistan. She says goodbye to other girls in tears in their last class. Shot in a direct and understated fashion, this tear-jerking scene speaks louder about the devastating aftermath of war than any other newsreel footage of war. (Kwon Eun-sun)
