It’s easy to talk about bad girls, but it’s not easy being one! Gallant Girls features seven women who recklessly shot to power on Labour Day in 1987 when a legendary democratic revolt happened in Berlin.
 Revolution in West Berlin against national authority. Rebellion against the IMF. Protests against the visits of Queen Elizabeth II and the US president Ronald Reagan. What exactly happened to them in 1987?
 The film documents reflections on the period, when everything seemed possible, women raised their voices by their own activism, distinguished themselves from male comrades, and built their own community. Also an autobiography of the director, Gallant Girls blends affection with criticism, and combines performances by actors with interviews with the seven women who lived through that time. The film tells the story of these fourteen characters, exploring their everyday lives in the community, friendships, love, political activism, and limits. The dualistic structure, entwining documentary and fiction, illustrates how memory and reflection can construct history. Via their various discussions and trials, they come to realize that resistance against the patriarchy is most important. It enables the audience to imagine the power and passion surrounding them at that time.
