SYNOPSIS
This is a documentary about the Filipino mail-order-brides of Yamagata. The mail-order-bride system is a kind of matchmaking system in which a man chooses his bride from among pictures and resumes of women. It is a reflection seen through images, interviews, and interactions with those mail-order-brides.

Avic IlaganAvic Ilagan
Avic Ilagan, born in 1961, spent 18 years as a theater artist for the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and shifted to independent filmmaking thereafter. She has won several awards for her documentaries and short films throughout 1995~97 and created educational television programs. Her latest work, Sowing Seeds was shown at the 2001 Yamagata International Documentary Festival. She is currently working on documentaries on the lives of Filipina migrant workers overseas.
