SYNOPSIS
The director marries a Japanese-Korean man and receives a Japanese traditional wedding gift: a cup and bowl set for the couple. Through this documentary, she tries to explore the fright coming from group hypnosis, unconsciousness, and indoctrination. Director Yi Choung-hwa inquires how and when this bowl for the husband, which is a little bigger compared with the somewhat smaller one for the wife, were accepted by the Japanese society as the norm in the name of cultural tradition. The film tries to visualize the violence against people who are on the edge by juxtaposing the unconscious indoctrination of the sexual difference in the Japanese society in the name of the tradition with political brainwashing, and unconscious adaptation to everyday life during the Park Jung-hee era, which the director experienced as a child. Let¡¯s wait and see how her intentions come to be visualized on the screen. (Kim Eun-shil)
