SYNOPSIS

According to legend, ¡®Ah¡¯(¡°sigh¡±), a legendary figure, appears as a young, handsome man to anybody who heaves a deep sigh, and then he tries to solve the needy person¡¯s problems. A widow envies her own maid. Poor as the maid is, she has a husband and children. Ah appears before the woman and hands over a key which can resolve her grief. With the key, she can steal a glance at the other woman¡¯s life. The film provides the lives of Iranian women of different ages, class backgrounds and with different jobs with this key. If we watch their real lives closely, woman from all social conditions get along with a deep sigh. Women may envy something that they do not possess, like money, a job or a family, but every woman heaves a deep sigh due to her own suffering. Finally, they realize that the key that stops their sighing is the full and mutual understanding among women from different strata, who call ¡®Ah¡¯ into their world to solve their problems.

    Born in Tabriz in 1960, Tahmineh Milani is one of the most successful Iranian woman filmmakers on the international scene. She graduated in architecture in 1986. Her films have been shown in major festivals around the world and have received many major awards. She has been member of the jury at the following Film Festivals: Chicago international F.F 2003, Kartaj-tunis F.F 2004, Karala F.F 2005, As head of the jury at black night F.F 2004
