Do you believe the Force of Music? is a delightful piece which includes various performances by and interviews with young feminist artists who dream of happy revolutions and rebelling against the monotony of life. Ever since the advent of young feminists in the 90s, feminist singers and groups in Korea’s underground rock scene have viewed pop culture as feminists vs. non-feminists, rather than mainstream vs. the underground. Pop culture, including music, is seen as an important arena for feminism to be involved in and to have control over, and these feminist artists are carrying out this role with great enthusiasm. A film which recalls the words of Emma Goldman who said, “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be in your revolution”. (Kim Sun-ah)
