SYNOPSIS
Released is a video about a prison and a woman. It is a boldly innovative statement, proceeding in the diverse styles of music video, video art, activist video, animation and video diary. It draws on various materials and modes, including interviews with a feminist imprisoned for a while, and with a photographer and a prostitute; animation describing the feelings of a woman prisoner; and footage of the making of Cheryl Dunye¡¯s feature film, Stranger Inside, which explores the lives of a prisoner and her daughter. Through stunning and unconventional short montages and interviews, the video offers words and images about prison from a woman¡¯s perspective, the experiences of women in an unfamiliar place, a prison.
