SYNOPSIS
In Search of a Lost Writer - Wandering in the Seventh World is the story of Midori Osaki, a famous Japanese writer who died in 1971 at the age of 74. Her writings were published only recently and were a great success. The structure of the film combines two stories: a long fight against the forgetfulness of a female writer and the adaptation of her novel, Wandering in the Seventh Sensuous World. This book, considered a masterpiece, tells a story of a young girl who wants to write poems on the seven senses.
This Asian Simone de Beauvoir was rediscovered in 1969 by a new generation of Japanese readers, who consider her works as models for modern literature. (program notes)
