A story about passionate young love and sexual identity between schoolgirls, set in a gothic boarding school. Mouse, who has lost her mother, Pauline, who grew up with foster parents, and Victoria, whose parents’s expectations drive her to a compulsion to live ‘normally’, all live in the same dormitory room. They rise above the sense of loss that comes from family relations to encourage each other, and a new love buds. Victoria and Pauline fall deeply in love and Mouse aids and abets her two friends to keep their friendship. Unstoppable teenage passion crashes against unchaneable social customs and Pauline, thirsting for true love, declares full-out war against the established society that demands ‘normality’ from her. The vocabulary of Shakespearean plays that can be found throughout the film are reborn in feminist terms to embroider the film with poetic language about love, loss and challenge. Director Lea Pool is a master feminist filmmaker who was blessed worldwide for Anne Trister(1986) and Set Me Free(1999).
