The Asian economic crisis and the IMF brought about a major restructuring in enterprises. During this process, women laborers were the first to be targeted for ‘honorary retirement’- another name for dismissal - just for being women. It is evident that a woman’s position will fall into an even more inferior environment when the right to labor is taken away, and when reality is acknowledged, they will retreat even futher behind. The most important thing is to defend and acquire women’s rights for labor. We have to break through our reality, not each by ourselves, alone, but together as a group, an organization of women.
