Sappho
A filmmaker paints a portrait of ¡®B,¡¯ a lesbian in a longtime friendship with the filmmaker, in the hopes of talking about lesbian identity through images. B is living with her partner of 8 years, but she is in a constant anxiety that her partner may leave her and get married to a man at her family¡¯s insistence. Heterocentrism and homophobia starts eating at their bond. The film shows their life of struggle against heteronormative perspectives toward their relationship. The filmmaker¡¯s own experience, reflected in B¡¯s lesbian experience, opens up ground where individuals can be united as ¡®we¡¯. ¡®We¡¯ are a minority that our society leaves invisible, but we finally become the subjects who voice the selfreflexive statement of the film.
