At SIWFF 2019, activists from 14 local women's film festivals—including Gwangju, Daegu, Seoul, Incheon, and Jeju—launched the Local Women's Film Festival Network. Across Korea, these festivals discover and introduce women filmmakers and discuss films that explore women’s narratives and social issues from women’s perspectives, working to advance gender equality. Transcending regional boundaries, the network fosters solidarity and mutual growth through annual gatherings.

SIWFF Night: Women in Films is a networking event that brings together women filmmakers from Korea and abroad to foster solidarity and friendship. This gathering provides a space for women filmmakers who have previously been featured at SIWFF to share their experiences, connect with one another, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Marking the second year of collaboration with Amnesty International Korea, this event celebrates International Youth Day—highlighting the rights and social roles of young people—with a film screening and talk session. Following the screening of En Route To, which explores the concerns and conflicts surrounding adolescent pregnancy as well as fractured relationships and friendship, participants will gather to discuss topics such as the body, rights, and solidarity.

Presented in collaboration with the Korean Federation of Women Science and Technology Associations (KOFWST), which connects women scientists and engineers across diverse fields, this special screening explores technological change and gender in the AI era. The short films I’m Not a Robot, UNIQUE TIME, and JEMINI are followed by a conversation on changes in science and technology and gender issues through cinema.

Presented in collaboration with the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK), which organizes "Bechdel Day," an event that reflects on gender equality in screen content and promotes cultural diversity, this screening features Mad Dance Office. The film follows Gook-hee, a fiercely hardworking middle-aged woman who finds her own rhythm through flamenco. The screening will be followed by a wide-ranging conversation on the film, female directors, female characters, and women's narratives, featuring director Cho Hynjin, actor Yeom Hye-ran, and director Min Kyu-dong, co-president of the Directors Guild of Korea.
