In 2019, activists from 14 regional women's film festivals including Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Jeju gathered at SIWFF and officially launched the Network of Local Women's Film Festival. They are tirelessly working to spread a culture of gender equality in our society. Under the name of "Women's Film Festival" in each respective region, they discover and introduce Korean female filmmakers, and discuss films that deal with social issues from the women's perspectives and films with women's narratives.
The Network of Local Women's Film Festival holds annual meetings, surpasses regional barriers, and promotes mutual growth through trust-based solidarity. At the 23rd SIWFF, the network plans to consult with each other about the direction of film festivals after COVID-19 and hold in-depth discussions about the problems that regional women's film festivals are facing as well as about their common interests.
* This event, in compliance with the COVID-19 safety rules of Seoul, will be held with network members only, without any outside guests.
