Synopsis

Gook-hee is a perfectionist civil servant at a district office who keeps every hour of her life meticulously on track. With a promotion within reach and her daughter about to land a job, everything seems to be going exactly according to plan. But when she is unexpectedly passed over for promotion and her daughter leaves home, the perfect rhythm of her life begins to fall apart. With her career stalled, her daughter out of reach, and an emptiness she can no longer ignore, Gook-hee finds herself in an unlikely place: a flamenco studio. There, she begins to rediscover her own rhythm—and a life that doesn¡¯t have to be perfect.

Director's Statement

Flamenco is not a dance meant to be shown to others. It is a dance you perform for yourself. Gook-hee has lived her whole life gritting her teeth and working hard—but then her daughter leaves, saying she feels suffocated, and even her subordinates turn their backs on her. Can Gook-hee, through dance, finally tear down the office that has been strangling her? I hope it becomes a time for audiences to let out the anger and the pent-up sorrows within themselves, together with Gook-hee.
