Synopsis

Young-A, whose disability has confined her to the house all her life, senses that her father is about to murder her. She begins to contemplate how she might survive.

Director's Statement

At the heart of this film is Young-A's survival. She escapes a house filled with lethal gas and lives. Rather than portraying a character who succumbs to the invisible forces surrounding her, I wanted to show someone who refuses death. Through this refusal, Young-A begins to reclaim herself and decides to write her own narrative. I wanted to portray her as a character who asserts her existence by choosing life and authoring her own story.

Lee Hyunbin’s 2014 short film Road and Mountain, which deals with a real-life environmental disaster, was invited to the JEONJU IFF. Her 2024 short Maru and My Friend’s Wedding, created in collaboration with actors from a theater troupe for people with disabilities, became one of the most acclaimed Korean short films of 2025.
