Synopsis

When she is overdue, a terrified single woman in her late twenties goes to the store to buy a pregnancy test. This journey takes on a different meaning when she meets various women, whose words unknowingly make her question her deep fear of motherhood.

Director's Statement

The project responds to a personal question of mine: Will I be a mother one day? It includes both a 10-minute short film and a supplementary podcast series. With it, I wanted to include my own story through a fictional protagonist grappling with her own fears about pregnancy, weaving in the deeply personal, raw, and empowering audio interviews of six cis and transgender women that I met along the way of researching this topic. By sharing these nuanced stories, I seek to propose a redefinition of motherhood as a fluid concept centered on caring and supporting rather than strictly biological reproduction.
