Synopsis
In the distant future after humanity’s extinction, automated robots operate plant cultivation factories left behind on a barren Earth devoid of life. The protagonist robot repeatedly produces seeds and plants them in an effort to restore the planet. However, the plants continue to wither and die from acid rain. Believing that insufficient production is the cause, the robot pushes the factory to operate beyond its limits. Yet pollution generated by excessive production worsens the environment and intensifies acid rain. Eventually, the factory collapses and the robot ceases functioning. Long after, nature begins to recover on its own, and a bird landing on the remains of the factory signals the return of life.
Director's Statement
This film begins with a question: is an approach that relies on control and intervention to solve problems always justified? Humans have continuously intervened in nature under the pretext of restoration, yet in doing so, have often caused even greater destruction. Likewise, the robot’s decision to operate the factory in order to save plants ironically becomes the very cause that prevents life from thriving. Only after everything comes to a halt does nature begin to recover on its own. Through this, the work seeks to highlight the need to move beyond human-centered intervention and instead trust in the natural cycle and the passage of time.
