Mina, a Korean-Danish woman, runs an exclusive spa on the Danish west coast. Every summer, white guests flock to the place to find peace, indulge themselves, and be attended to by the hotel's staff – mystical, unknown creatures that seem to float between reality and fantasy. But when one of the guests makes an awkward, discriminating gesture, it takes her by surprise and her dark hair begins to grow. She tries to tame it by using it as thread to sew a tablecloth in the spa. But mysteriously, the threads bring someone to life inside a painting on the wall. An old Korean grandmother steps out into Mina’s world, offering her the care and presence she has been longing for. For the first time, Mina feels a desire to be among people who resemble her – not just in spirit but also in ethnic origin. When the guests’ behavior finally becomes too much, Mina flees into the night and ends up by the sea. A small ice cream shop is still open. She walks over, and behind the counter, she sees what she has been searching for all along.​
