Synopsis
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) was more than just a school. In the quiet corners of the girls' hostel, memories linger—of laughter, struggles, and a room that became a sanctuary. It held me through loss, illness, and self-discovery. From painting my walls to rebuilding my spirit, this film is a tribute to the place and the people who supported me. Through old footage and my voice, I return to a time that shaped me and still calls me back.
Director's Statement
This film is a deeply personal journey—an act of remembering and reclaiming. A Room, A Life, My Second Home is not just about a physical space, but about the emotional and transformative experiences I lived through at FTII. That small hostel room was where I grieved, healed, laughed, created, and began to understand myself anew. By revisiting archival footage and narrating my own memories, I wanted to capture how a place—its walls, silences, and shared moments—can hold your life together when everything else feels fragile. This is a tribute to the resilience born in quiet spaces and to the community of women who carried each other through uncertainty. In telling this story, I honour not only my second home but also the power of lived experience and women¡¯s voices—unfiltered, emotional, and enduring.
