Synopsis
Teenager Dhunu lives in a small village in Assam, India, where she dreams of becoming a musician. However, an unexpected turn of events compels her to suddenly grow up and face some harsh realities. She must take responsibility for her family and herself, but she refuses to give up on music, finding solace in her mother, in nature, and in music. Rima Das returns to her Village Rockstars (2017) characters seven years later, following Dhunu as she searches for her own melody and a new meaning in life—in a journey full of change.

Rima DASRima Das' film Bulbul Can Sing (2018) screened in the 2019 Generation section of the Berlinale, where it received a Special Mention from the International Jury. In 2020, she served as a member of the same jury for Generation 14plus. Her earlier film, Village Rockstars (2017), won India's National Film Award for Best Feature Film and was the country's official entry for the 2019 Academy Awards. Its sequel, Village Rockstars 2, had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival and received the Kim Jiseok Award.
