Synopsis
What makes a body human? This science-fiction fable shot in China foreshows the rise of AI. Time behaves fluidly as we travel into the near future in the company of an unusual pair: Blue and her friend, a mannequin named Lucy. Iram Ghufran allows herself certain liberties with the documentary format, while creating superb tableaux depicting an uncanny reality.

Iram GHUFRANIram Ghufran is a Delhi-based filmmaker and artist working across film, photography, and writing. Her interdisciplinary practice explores memory, the spectral, and intimate histories through poetic and speculative approaches to nonfiction. Drawing from personal and social memory, she challenges fixed forms and genres, proposing film as a way of being with others across time and ideology.
