Synopsis
Women speaking feminism at the volume of everyday conversation—60dB. Feminists live with constant stigma. Some say the word "feminist" feels aggressive or threatening. But feminists aren't special or distant figures. Anyone who notices injustice and dares to speak out in daily life is a feminist. Team Femiscope set out to find ordinary feminists in their 20s, living among us. We asked: What does it mean to live as a feminist in Korea? What makes them uncomfortable? And why do they stay feminists despite it all?
Director's Statement
This is Team Femiscope¡¯s first documentary. We aim to strip away the prejudice and stigma surrounding the word ¡°feminist¡± and illuminate the ordinary, kind faces behind it. Rather than portraying feminists as objects of hatred or controversy, the film focuses on women in their twenties—people in our everyday lives. The camera does not turn away from the discomforts they face; instead, it follows the scenes of life where those discomforts become the starting point. Through this work, we hope the audience can feel less distance from the word ¡°feminist¡± and come to see these individuals as people who are right beside us.
