Synopsis

Blanche is dead. She was an old lady. As everyone gathers at the village for her funeral, Zaza, a bi-racial teenager, arrives with her mother. Amidst family conflicts, she meets a lonely little girl—her cousin.

Director's Statement

With Blanche, I delve into my memory of an elder¡¯s funeral to explore themes of mixed identity, dysfunctional family dynamics, and emancipation. I am interested in the ways family conflicts are passed down from one generation to the next, and how younger generations can hopefully break this cycle.
