Growing up in a traditional Chinese family, I witnessed my mother sacrifice her youth, career, and passion to support the family because of societal beliefs that "it's what a woman is supposed to do," while my father only had to focus on his career. By the time she realized what she had sacrificed, she no longer knew where her true passion lay. Many women in the society I grew up in face a similar challenge: how to prioritize themselves while being good mothers, wives, and daughters. In this project, I projected my wishes for my mother onto the main character, Wendy, who is an alternate-universe version of my mother.
