It is the latest work of Věra Chytilová who is one of the directors leading the Czech New Wave in the 1960s and a master of piercing social satire. Hana, a psychology scholar and the heroine, is married with a son. Many people visit her clinic and bare their worries to her. Hana is fed up with listening the worries and troubles of people longing for the satisfaction of life in love, successful family relationships, success in their careers and so on. Pleasant Moments sharply organized with fast dramatic development, vivid camera work, allegorical ending and black comical satire ends with a close-up of Hana whose laughing face shortly turns into her crying one. Hana\'s expressional mixture and confusion are associated with women’s emotional structure in Czech reality. Known for Daisies (1996) all over the world, Chytilová’s work is generally characterized by the use of \'improvisatory lines, casting of unprofessional performers, political allegory, surreal settings and no-exit endings\'.
