SYNOPSIS

Following The Girl, Adoption and Nine Months, The Two of Them is also great in succession to a genealogy of women\'s cinema also focusing on the relationship between women. Mária, a manager of a women worker\'s residence, is a middle-aged woman living with her husband who has a professional job and their child. A young worker Juli faces a crisis of being expelled from the residence because of her alcoholic husband\'s abrupt behavior because of this Mária lets Juli stay at her place, even though it goes against the rules of the residence. From that day on, the two women, who have different social status, married lives and personalities, are involved with each other¡¯s life. The deeper their affectionate relationship goes, the clearer the problems of their marriages are: while Mária\'s relationship with her husband is stable but not passionate, Juli loves her husband but suffers from his irresponsible and helpless behavior.
Just as Kata and Anna in Adoption, the two heroines in Two of Them are each other\'s double in spite of their different ages and circumstances. Through their friendship, the two heroines discover another hidden self and the discovery opens a new liberalized dimension to each woman\'s life. While calmly exploring the women\'s social conditions, the film is also warm-hearted along with women\'s passion feeding a fire on her life pioneered by herself. (NAM In-young)
