Loving Annabelle is a modern-day remake of the classic <Á¦º¹ÀÇ Ã³³à>, lovingly etched in the memories of old movie fans. The stylish and reckless Annabelle transfers to Castle Teresa boarding school pervaded by a dark, forbidding atmosphere. When Annabelle tirelessly pursues her poetry teacher, Simone – the teacher -- begins to experience the first stirrings of desire that she had, for a long time, suppressed living within a hetero-normative society. Even though it is clear that the director Katherine Brooks derives deep inspiration from Madchen in Uniform, transplanting its storyline to a contemporary Californian setting, she focuses the story more on the relationship between Simone and Annabelle. The oppressive atmosphere of Hitler\'s totalitarian education system may have disappeared but what remains is a Catholic society with its forbidden homosexual love. Loving Annabelle is a testament to the complex love between a student and her teacher, and the growing pains of a young girl. (KWON Eun-sun)
