SYNOPSIS

\"We all communicate. But do we understand each other?\" This question kicks off this film which explores issues of friendship, family, acting, society and community through the eyes of a 14-year-old girl named Serena. Employing the chief modes of communication and self-expression for the N-generation (\"Network-generation\") such as cell-phones, personal computers, digital cameras, along with computer graphics, drenched with the sensibility of young girls, this documentary provides a report on the lives of young girls in their teens living in 21st century cities.     Born in 1968, Anne Geelen attended the University in Amsterdam where she finished her degree in Film & Television studies. First she worked as a researcher for different broadcast companies, as IDTV, John the Mol Produkties and TV Dits. Ten years ago, she started working for VPRO Youth Television, called Villa Achterwerk. There she developed herself as a all-round documentary filmmaker. The characters in her series or films are children between 7 and 16 with whom she works together closely. Geelen always tries to make the viewer more conscious of their own thoughts, behavior, but also talents or possibilities in life.
